Eight new acid permutations by Chicago liquid electrician Tom Owens aka Potions. Sourced from a set of 2015 live staples and recorded to Tascam 4-track with minimal overdubs, Pushing The Cuboid spans an array of fantastical wavelengths: moonbase cruise (“Heel Lift,” “Space Mountain”), rubbery jazz (“Goof Forward,” feat. Rob Frye of Bitchin’ Bajas on multi-tracked horns), cosmos shuffle (“Cool Ride”), cyber warehouse lurch (“Detroit Heart Strings”).

As always with Potions, there are no solid states, only alchemical flux: dissolving textures, rhythmic wobble, heavy phasing, cuboids shifting through unstable grids. In addition to Frye (who adds flute and bass clarinet across the B Side), PTC also shows influence from Owens’ visual collaborator, Jillian Musielak, who projects mutating environments during performances.
